Planning information only
The calculators and guides on this site provide general information to help you plan. They are not professional electrical, engineering, medical or safety advice, and they are not a substitute for the instructions that come with your equipment.
Estimates, not guarantees
Calculator results depend on the numbers you enter and on simplifying assumptions that are described on each page. Real equipment varies with temperature, age, load and many other factors. Check every result against the manufacturer's specifications before buying or relying on equipment.
Electrical work
Any connection between a generator or battery system and a building's wiring must be made by a licensed electrician using approved equipment, in line with your local electrical code. Never connect a generator to a wall outlet.
Safety
Fuel-burning generators produce carbon monoxide and must only be run outdoors, well away from buildings. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and the guidance of your local authorities. If anyone in your home depends on powered medical equipment, make a backup plan with your healthcare provider and equipment supplier.
